Reactivating QuarkXPress
After activation, QuarkXPress verifies the validity of the activation
key every time it is launched. If QuarkXPress does not detect a valid
activation key, it runs in demonstration mode until
you reactivate it.
You can perform the following actions without having to reactivate
QuarkXPress:
You
can make most peripheral hardware changes. However, some peripheral hardware
changes will cause QuarkXPress to ask you to reactivate.
You
can update QuarkXPress.
You can restore
a computer or data from a backup such as ghost image.
You can perform a custom
installation of QuarkXPress after the initial installation.
You can uninstall or
remove the application from your computer and then perform an installation.
If you reinstall QuarkXPress, you have to reactivate only if a hardware
change is detected.
You can install and
activate QuarkXPress 6.x and 7.x on one computer at the same time. Both
copies of QuarkXPress can run simultaneously without any activation conflict.
You can update or upgrade
the operating system, as long as you do not change the file system.
You can run QuarkXPress
on more than one operating system on the same computer. However, this
requires you to activate QuarkXPress on each operating system. Multiple
activation cannot be counted as a dual activation, so this approach requires
two licenses.
Note: If your copy of QuarkXPress needs to be reactivated, be sure to reactivate
it within the grace period. Once the grace period expires, QuarkXPress will run in demonstration mode.
How long is the grace period?
The length of the grace period varies:
The initial grace
period (after installation) is five days.
The grace period if
you make certain types of peripheral hardware changes is seven days.
There
is no grace period for a hardware change.
